Liquor Store Manager
The Liquor Store Manager organizes, develops, plans, coordinates, and supervises the day-to-day operations of the liquor store. Provides a controlled retail service to the community at a profit. Provides development of retail objectives and merchandising. Oversees training, staffing, and policy implementation among all liquor store personnel.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The essential functions of the position include, but are not limited to, the following major duties performed. Duties are listed from most to least important.
Coordinates and supervises the day to day operations of the Liquor Store.
Establishes and implements procedures to maintain strict compliance of all applicable laws and regulations regarding the sale of alcoholic beverages.
Directs the setting of prices for all merchandise sales to ensure attainment of profit margins on a regular basis and as market conditions change.
Determines and maintains appropriate levels of on-hand inventory and supervises inventory process.
Develops and implements operational procedures including customer service objectives, operating plans, advertising strategies, purchase plans, store improvements and layout.
Maintains daily reports and records; Monitors sales and expenditures; Establishes consistent procedures for the accounting of sales. Reviews and authorizes all vendor requests for disbursements.
Responsible for hiring, scheduling, training, and employee development; Supervises the continued product knowledge and education of all staff.
Establishes and maintains a work climate that effectively and positively motivates employees to perform to the best of their abilities.
Reviews and authorizes all payroll disbursements.
Serves as a working supervisor - participating in sales of goods, stocking, and customer service as necessary.
Works some evenings and weekends to maintain continuity with employees and to identify operational needs monthly.
Maintains good public relations; resolves any complaints from customers, suppliers, and employees.
Determines products and brands to be carried by studying and researching sales trends and customer buying preferences. Confers with beverage industry consultants on a regular basis.
Continues to increase and maintains knowledge and management skills by attending seminars, conventions, and tastings to stay current with market evaluations, techniques, and new laws and regulations.
Oversees housekeeping and overall maintenance and security of buildings, surrounding grounds, and all equipment.
Performs other such duties and functions which are necessary and/or incidental to the proper performance of the position.

Education and Experience -
Training, Certificates, and Licenses
High School Diploma or GED Rest High School education in business courses (desired)
Previous supervisory experience KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES Knowledge of primary retail and liquor store principles and procedures Knowledge of the laws, regulations, and operations governing the operation of municipal liquor store Knowledge of computers, Microsoft Office, and applicable software programs
Knowledge of safety procedures and "right to refuse" sales Knowledge of liquor retailing and product lines sold in liquor stores Knowledge of liquor trainings including loss control and Beverage Alcohol Training Ability to merchandise and display retail products, and use computer assisted inventory maintenance and control.
Ability to provide excellent customer service and leadership Ability to manage a retail operation as an effective supervisor Ability to communicate, manage, and delegate to all liquor store personnel.
Ability to train and supervise the work of staff Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Ability to use a variety of equipment in a liquor store and office setting - such equipment may include, but is not limited to, computerized cash registers, bank card machine personal computers, printers, telephones, fax machines, and copy machines.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, other personnel and the general public.

ADDITIONAL TIME REQUIREMENTS: This Liquor Store Manager is paid on an annual basis and as such is expected to work as necessary to fulfill the requirements of the position. This may include hours in excess of eight (8) per day and forty (40) per week, nights, weekends, and holidays. HOLIDAY OPTION: The Liquor Store Manager has the option of floating holidays as necessary to fulfill the expectations and requirements of the position.
